Truck runs off freeway, crashing into a guardrail
According to a recent article from ABC7, there was a car accident on the 55 Freeway on Monday early morning in which two people were killed.
As mentioned in the article, the crash occurred at about 2:00 a.m. when a truck was traveling northbound on the 55 Freeway changing into the westbound 22 Freeway in Orange.
CHP responded to the accident after the truck ran off the road, crashing into a guardrail. The vehicle went airborne and overturned in the 22 Freeway westbound lanes, sources said.
Furthermore, the truck caught fire before witnesses stopped by the road to pull two injured people out of the vehicle wreckage. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, sources said.
CHP stated that paramedics transported the second victim, reported to be a male, to a local hospital with traumatic injuries. The victim succumbed to his injuries at Orange County Global Medical Center and died shortly after.
Currently, authorities cannot determine whether or not speed, alcohol, or drugs played a factor in the car accident on the freeway. The authorities are currently investigating the crash and further details will be reported at a later time.
