Fresno residents, 21-years-old or under, sustained injuries in fatal DUI crash
According to an article from YourCentralValley.com, there was a fatal DUI-related car crash on the U.S. 101 south of Tower TV Road on Tuesday night, leaving two victims severely injured and two others dead.
As mentioned in a previously written article, the car accident ocurred at about 11:00 p.m. on the 101 Freeway in Fresno in the southbound lanes of traffic.
A driver identified as Robert Dave Jones II was driving under the influence, reportedly, when he made an unsafe turn on the freeway, California Highway Patrol stated. Two passengers in the back seat of Jones’ 2007 Toyota Scion were ejected and killed.
Authorities have been able to identify the two backseat passengers as Cody James Wiebers and Jubalee Stoney Jones.
Additionally, one of the ejected victims was then run over by another driver, who stopped afterwards to cooperate with the police.
Furthermore, 20-year-old Cynthia Rendon was identified as the front seat passenger. She sustained injuries as well as the driver, Robert David Jones., according to officials. They were transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries.
Jones will face felony charges for DUI and potentially manslaughter, said California Highway Patrol.
Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.
