2 people dead after losing control of vehicle and striking palm trees

According to an article from News Channel 3, on Wednesday January 24, two people lost their lives in a car crash after hitting several palm trees in an intersection of Jackson Street and 54th Avenue in the city of Thermal.

Furthermore, firefighters and police were called to respond to an accident that occurred around 2:26 a.m.  A California Highway Patrol stated in the article that the BMW was traveling westbound when it lost control and went airborne and struck several palm trees.  According to the Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman, April Newman, the two men in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.

As stated by officials neither of the men were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.  The deceased party has yet to be identified, early Wednesday morning, according to the News Channel 3 article.

The intersection of Jackson Street and Avenue 54 remains open, however Avenue 54 was closed east of Jackson Street for several hours. Further information will be released at a later time.
