Two Ukiah residents killed and a Lakeport man injured in a three-vehicle car collision
According to Lake County News, on Friday morning around 8:50 a.m., a car crash occurred on Highway 20 and Road 144 near Redwood Valley killing 70-year-old woman and a 77-year-old male passenger.
On Friday around 8:50 a.m. a Nissan Altima was hit on the left side when it tried to merge on the the eastbound Highway 20 by a white 2009 Nissan Titan, driven by Jaime Lopez Jr., 25, of Lakeport who was driving westbound on Highway 20. A third vehicle, a white international commercial truck driven by Ward Mckee Jory, 52, of Lodi was traveling eastbound on Highway 20. Jory could not stop in time to avoid the collision with the Altima and resulted in hitting the Altima’s right side, according to the article.
Nissan Altima’s driver and passenger sustained fatal injuries as a result of the wreck and died at the scene, said the authorities.
As stated in the article, Lopez sustained moderate injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Frank. R. Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits.
The CHP said all four individuals were wearing seat belts.
The name of the two victims were not mentioned in the article, pending the notification of next-of-kin.
The crash remains under investigation, however, the agency said it did not appear that drugs or alcohol were factors in the wreck, according to officials.
