Crash between pickup truck and sedan kills 2 on SR-52 east of Interstate 5 freeway
According to a recent article from NBC San Diego, there was a fatal car accident reported on Tuesday in which two drivers were killed on State Route 52 just east of Interstate 5 in University City.
As mentioned in the report, the accident happened late Monday evening just before midnight. The California Highway Patrol received a call that someone was driving in the wrong direction on SR-52 in a gray pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup truck slammed into the driver of a Mercedes sedan in a wrong-way collision, officers said. As a result, the car wreck ignited a fire in which both drivers were killed.
Reportedly, no other passengers were inside either car at the time in the San Diego accident.
CHP arrived shortly after and launched an investigation while the roads were closed down. No further details were immediately reported. The identities of the two drivers were withheld. New information will be released at a later time.
