49-year-old woman killed after striking a disabled big rig truck

According to recent news, there was a 49-year-old woman who was killed in a big rig truck accident on the westbound 60 Freeway near Santa Anita Avenue on Thursday afternoon, said the California Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at about 2:51 p.m. when the 49-year-old was traveling  westbound on the 60 Freeway in South El Monte.  Reportedly, Ching was driving a 2018 BMW when she suddenly struck the corner of a semi-truck.

Apparently, the big rig was stopped along the right shoulder of the freeway due to a mechanical failure.  When Ching came upon the disabled vehicle, she attempted to veer right toward the offramp, but she could not avoid the truck in the way.

As a result, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics arrived to treat the woman in critical condition.

Currently, the semi truck accident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the cause of the mechanical failure of the big rig truck.

Further information will be reported as it is available after the pending investigation has concluded.
