Infant killed in fiery accident near Tustin Ranch Road
According to a recent article from the Orange County Register, there was a major traffic accident that occurred on the Interstate 5 freeway in Tustin last Friday.
In the article, it was stated that a Dodge Caravan was traveling southbound on the I-5 just north of Tustin Ranch Road at about 11:22 p.m. last Friday when it struck something that obstructed their path in the roadway.
The vehicle carried five people who were traveling in the area from Sammamish, Washington. The four passengers included a three-month-old girl, who tragically passed away.
Furthermore, California Highway Patrol responded to the fiery accident shortly after. The minivan had caught fire, reportedly, and the driver as well as three passengers attempted to rescue the infant. Unfortunately, the minivan became fully engulfed in flames, said officials.
Officers as well as Orange County Fire Authority attempted to aid the victims but to no avail. The baby died at the scene, and her name was not released yet, pending the wishes of the family.
Authorities identified the driver as a 30-year-old man, and the three other passengers as a 59-year-old man, a 60-year-old woman, and a 28-year-old woman. The driver suffered major injuries, and the three passengers suffered major to moderate injuries. Paramedics transported the victims to Orange County Global Medical Center.
Currently, the crash is still under investigation and authorities are working to determine the cause of the disastrous car accident. Further information will be released at a later time.
