16-year-old boy identified as the victim in a fatal accident that occurred after initial car crash between two other vehicles on Crenshaw Boulevard
According to police and an article from My News LA, a deadly traffic collision occurred on Tuesday evening at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Crest Road, causing the loss of the life of a 16-year-old passenger in a third vehicle.
As reported in the article, at about 10:00 p.m., the Torrance police responded to the deadly scene of an accident. Two vehicles, a silver 2004 Audi A6 and a black 2014 Mercedes ran a red light at the intersection and collided with a 2000 Toyota Sienna. As a result, a sixteen-year-old boy was critically injured before paramedics transported him to a local hospital where he died shortly after.
The name of the victim was not immediately released, pending the notification of his family members, reported the article. A 47-year-old man, the driver of the van, also sustained serious injuries and was also hospitalized.
Furthermore, the driver of the Mercedes GLK350 remained at the scene after the collision. Upon initial investigation, police officers stated that the driver of the Audi was involved in a minor traffic accident with the Mercedes in Rancho Palos Verdes and fled the scene, causing the driver of the Mercedes to pursue the Audi driver. This was when both vehicles traveled northbound on Crenshaw Boulevard before striking the van.
Per the article, the 21-year-old Ranchos Palos Verdes man that remained at the scene was arrested by Torrance police after being treated at a hospital. He was charged with suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, and his name has not yet been released.
The driver who fled both scenes remains at large and authorities are currently working to determine the identity of the driver and bring him into justice after the Torrance vehicle accident.
