Skateboarder left in critical condition after being struck by a car on Seaward Avenue and Harbor Boulevard in Ventura

According to keyt.com, a man was critically injured on Sunday morning after he was hit by a car on Seaward Avenue and Harbor Boulevard in Ventura.

Authorities stated, around 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, a skateboarder was riding on southbound Seaward Avenue and attempted to cross the intersection at Harbor Boulevard when a car traveling eastbound on Harbor Boulevard hit the skateboarder.

The driver of the vehicle that collided with the skateboarder remained on scene to give medical aid to the injured victim.

Officials state the skateboarder was unresponsive lying in the intersection and was transported to a nearby hospital. He was placed in the intensive care unit because of his serious injuries. The victim is identified as a 20-year-old man, according to the article.

It is unclear if alcohol, drugs or speeding were involved in the factor of the collision but the authorities have not ruled them out.
