Jataj Zuniga booked into County jail after being found connected to a hit-and-run accident that ended a pedestrian’s life

A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run car crash involving suspect Jataj Zuniga near Florin Road and Freeport Boulevard in Sacramento on Christmas Night, according to a local news article.

The unidentified pedestrian was located by authorities shortly after 9:00 p.m. on the roadway, unresponsive, said officials.  There was no other driver found at the site of the accident.

The Sacramento Police pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

A considerable amount of time later, Jataj Zuniga, 20, was found and arrested after being suspected to be connected to the hit-and-run car accident that took place Monday night.

Additionally, Zuniga was booked into Sascramento County Main Jail on a felony charge of hit-and-run with death or injury and a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence, said the news release.

Furthermore, the victim’s identity was withheld from the article, pending the notification of next-of-kin.

Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.
