One of three pedestrian-related car accidents in the area

According to a recent article from BakersfieldNow.com, there was a pedestrian who was killed on Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle in southwest Bakersfield on Stockdale Highway.

Per the article, Bakersfield Police Department officers responded to the accident at the 5000 block of Stockdale Highway.  Sources said that officers identified an adult male body lying in the roadway upon arrival.

 The pedestrian had suffered major injuries and once the Bakersfield Fire Department and Hall Ambulance personnel arrived at the scene, the male was declared deceased.

Officers stated that the driver of the truck was under the influence of alcohol.  The driver was cooperative and remained at the scene to speak to authorities.

Currently, it has not been determined whether or not the pedestrian was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, but police did determine that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Further information will be reported as it is determined in the pending investigation.  The identity of the victim killed in this pedestrian collision was withheld pending the notification of next-of-kin.
