1 person killed by vehicle on the 880 Freeway south of 98th Ave in Oakland
According to a California Highway Patrol police report, on Saturday, March 24th 2018, at about 4:48 a.m. a person was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 880, just south of 98th Avenue in the city of Oakland.
Furthermore, authorities reported that a grey Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling northbound on I-880 when it hit a pedestrian. The driver of the Hyundai was pulled over on the right shoulder and was cooperating with officials, as stated by CHP.
In addition, the pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene by authorities. Officials have not yet released any information on deceased victim at this time.
It is unclear what the pedestrian was doing walking on the interstate’s road way, however this incident is undergoing review by authorities as they work to determine the exact cause of the accident. Further details will be available at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
