Woman Killed in 2-Car Wreck in Carlsbad

A 55-year-old woman was killed and a 73-year-old woman was hospitalized after a major car crash in the 7300 block of Alicante Road near Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad last Saturday, according to recent local news.

As mentioned in the news report, the accident occurred on a residential street in Carlsbad on Saturday, leaving one 55-year-old woman dead and a 73-year-old woman hospitalized.

Reportedly, the accident occurred just after 11:00 a.m. in the 7300 block of Alicante Road, just off Alga Road, and near the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa.

Carlsbad Police Department officers arrived to find two drivers inside their wrecked vehicles.  Paramedics arrived and treated the 55-year-old driver of one vehicle of their life-threatening injuries.

Additionally, the second driver reportedly sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.  Their names were not mentioned in the article, pending the notification of next-of-kin.

Currently, it is unclear what caused the collision, however traffic authorities are leading an ongoing investigation to determine what exactly happened in this car accident.
