Car collision left one person dead on State Route 99 near Airport Dr in Bakersfield
According to a news report from 23ABC News, on Saturday, February 17th 2018, one person was killed as a result of a car collision on Highway 99 near Airport Drive in the city of Bakersfield.
Additionally, officials report that shortly before 4:00 a.m. a SUV was driving northbound on the southbound lanes of Highway 99 before crashing on to a bridge guardrail and bursting into flames. Several people reported a vehicle driving on the wrong side but when authorities arrived the collision had already occurred, as mentioned in the article.
In addition, the driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, however authorities not released any information of the victim. Fortunately no other vehicles were involved in this horrific accident, as cited in the news article.
Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause of the collision, and further details will be reported at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
