67-year-old LA resident killed after semi truck collision in Indio
As mentioned in a recent press release, there was a fatal crash between two big rig semi-trucks on the I-10 on Thursday morning in which one 67-year-old man was killed as a result.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to a crash that was reported at approximately 7:20 a.m. on the westbound side of the Christopher Columbus Transcontinental Highway, or the Interstate 10 freeway, near Chiriaco Road.
Authorities stated that a 38-year-old woman from Lubbock, Texas was driving an International big rig before she stopped on the right shoulder of the freeway just west of Summit Road.
Simultaneously, the man from Los Angeles was driving a Freightliner on the westbound I-10 before driving off the roadway to the right and striking the rear end of the woman’s big rig, said the report. Neither of the drivers were identified in the article.
Subsequently, after the collision, the freightliner did not stop and drove off the roadway, and the driver inside died immediately. Responders pronounced the drivers dead at the scene. Additionally, there was a male passenger found inside the sleeper of the International big rig, although he was not injured in the truck accident, said California Highway Patrol officer Mike Radford.
Reportedly, the crash caused about 100 to 150 gallons of diesel fuel to spill onto the roadway.
