One dead after a car crash into a horse on Highway 152 near Dos Palos

According to abc30.com, a man was killed Monday night on Highway 152 near Highway 59 when his car hit a horse that got loose on the highway.

As mentioned in the article, the California Highway Patrol saw a man driving his Honda on the eastbound Highway 152 around 11:00 p.m. on Monday when he hit a horse on one of the lanes.

As a result, the horse went right over the roof of the car and fell on the median of the highway, officials state.

Authorities state the driver of the vehicle and the horse that was hit died at the scene of the collision.

The name of the victim was not mentioned in the article, pending the notification of next-of-kin.

It is unclear if alcohol, drugs or speeding were involved in the factor of the collision but the authorities have not ruled them out.
