Fatal crash into center divider leaves car smoking in San Diego

A white BMW crashed into the Interstate 15 center divider near Mira Mesa Boulevard in San Diego at approximately 3:01 PM on Sunday, leaving one person dead as a result, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log.

The white BMW was smoking after the collision into the center divider, according to sources.  Moreover, authorities report that The HOV lane was blocked until the scene of the accident was cleared.

Additionally, paramedics attempted to resuscitate the injured driver when the arrived at the site of the accident.  The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

At the time of the report, the identity of the driver was currently not released. It is also unknown whether or not the vehicle involved in the accident had other passengers at the time of the crash.

The investigation into this car crash is still ongoing. Further details will be released as it becomes available to the public.
