One bicyclist critically injured in a car accident in Watsonville

According to Patch.com, on Tuesday morning around 5:05 am, a car collision occurred on Lee Road north of West Beach Street in Watsonville, leaving one bicyclist critically injured.

The 30-year-old driver struck a 45-year-old bicyclist from behind while it was still dark before sunrise, police said.

The 45-year-old bicyclist was taken by helicopter to a hospital and was listed in critical condition as of Tuesday morning according to police.

The name of the victim was not mentioned in the article, pending the notification of next-of-kin.
