According to a recent article from MyNewsLA, there was a car accident that took place on the 14 Freeway near Santa Clarita in which one victim was killed as a result.
The accident took place at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Sunday morning on the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway near Soledad Canyon Road.
As mentioned in the CHP accident report, Joe Lopez, a 25-year-old from Littlerock, was headed north on the 14 Freeway in his 2004 Toyota Matrix before he struck a parked 2007 Toyota Corolla and the driver within it.
The driver inside the Toyota vehicle suffered fatal injuries and despite attempts from the paramedics, he succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.
Currently, his name is withheld pending the notification of next-of-kin.
Furthermore, it remains unclear if Lopez was injured in the collision, although he was arrested at the scene, said the CHP.
Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liability. Further details will be reported at a later time.
Drugs and alcohol are suspected to be a factor in the collision, said CHP.
