Man pronounced dead after being electrocuted by power lines

According to a news article from the Orange County Register, there was in incident in which a Huntington Beach man was killed by a downed power line on early Monday.

The accident occurred in the 8200 block of Bush Drive, said the authorities.  It was approximately shortly before 12:30 a.m.

A man was found by authorities who responded to the crash, sources said.  He was laying on the ground in his backyard, and authorities pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Huntington Beach Police officers believe that the man went outside during a power outage to investigate a loud explosion, and most likely stepped across some downed wires.

It was unclear from the report why the wires were downed in the first place.

Furthermore, it was unclear from the article what the victim’s name was, although it was stated that he was in his 60’s.

Currently, this incident remains under the investigation of Huntington Beach Police, and further information will be released as soon as the investigation has concluded.  Authorities will collect more evidence to shed light on the cause and liable party in this tragic, fatal accident.
