Female passenger killed and driver injured in a traffic collision in Fremont
According to a news report from Campbell Patch, on Wednesday, April 18th 2018, at about 9:42 a.m., one person was killed and at least one person was injured ensuing a traffic collision involving two vehicles on the northbound of Interstate 880 near Fremont Boulevard in the city of Fremont.
Moreover, the report stated that a green Ford SUV and a black Mercedes were the vehicles involved in the traffic collision. Additionally, the Mercedes believed to have been driving at a greater speed lost control of its vehicle and struck the Ford on its right rear side, as stated by officials. As a result, the Ford lost control, slid sideways and overturned, as stated by CHP.
Furthermore, 58-year-old Lori S. Peterson, passenger of the Ford SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Alameda County Sheriff-Coroner’s officials.
In addition, 59-year-old Craig S. Peterson, driver of the Ford SUV was transported to San Jose Regional Medical Center by paramedics.
Several lanes of traffic were blocked as authorities worked to clear the accident and a tow truck was required for the vehicles involved in the accident, as stated by authorities.
Currently, this incident is under review in an ongoing investigation by the authorities, and further details will be reviewed and released to the public as it is determined.
