Multi-vehicle car accident causes at least one person to be rushed to hospital

According to a recent Patch article, there was a car accident in San Clemente on the northbound 5 Freeway just north of El Camino Real in which at least one person was hospitalized.

The accident occurred on Monday just after 1:00 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a collision in the northbound traffic lanes of the San Diego (5) Freeway.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash, reported the article.  Authorities identified the vehicles involved as a red truck, a white van, and a grey Mercedes, said Officer Rafael Reynoso of the California Highway Patrol.

Furthermore, all three vehicles were damaged heavily and required to be towed away from the scene.

Additionally, there were reports that gas may have been leaking from the truck, although authorities have not been able to confirm this.

According to the report, at least one victim required medical attention and was transported to an area hospital as a result, said Orange County Fire Authority.  The severity of the injuries is unclear at this point in time.

Further information will be reported at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
