Lake Elsinore motorcyclist dead in a multi-car collision on the 91 freeway in Anaheim Hills

According to the OCR, a car crash occurred Friday evening on the eastbound 91 freeway near Imperial Highway in Anaheim Hills resulting in one 63-year-old motorcyclist from Lake Elsinore dead.

As mentioned in the article, the California Highway Patrol received a report around 9:48 p.m. on Friday of a car collision on the eastbound 91 freeway.

Officer Brianna Dotson of the California Highway Patrol reported the motorcyclist, identified as James Schafer, was seen splitting the number one and two lanes on the eastbound 91 Freeway near Imperial Highway at a dangerous speed.

When the Corolla had to slow down because of the Honda that was in the front was slowing down for unknown reason, the motorcyclist could not avoid the Corolla that was in the front.

The motorcycle hit the back of the Corolla at approximately 75 mph then went out of control and was hit by another car going at 65 mph that was being driven by Jorge Herrera , 38, of Santa Ana. After being hit by Jorge Herrera, the motorcycle hit the Honda.

Schafer suffered major injuries and was taken to Orange County Global Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

None of the other drivers were injured and no one was arrested, officer Dotson said.

This collision remains under investigation and further details will be updated as they are available.
