Traffic collision between Merced Avenue and Fulton Road in Santa Rosa injures three people and killed a dog

According to a recent article published by the Press Democrat, there was a recent car crash in which several people sustained injuries and a dog was killed on Monday, May 22, 2017.

The article states that the two-vehicle accident took place on Monday afternoon, creating traffic for miles in both directions.

Per the article, the two vehicles involved in the accident were a blue Scion SUV and a tan Toyota Camry.  The two sedans collided head-on near the intersection of Merced Avenue and Highway 12 in the afternoon, said California Patrol Highway Sgt. John Evans.

The occupants of both vehicles were thus stuck in their vehicles after the initial impact crushed the front ends of both cars.  Firefighters arrived on scene to assist in extricating the victims from their vehicles using the jaws-of-life.

In the article, it was also reported that a “reddish-colored collie type dog in the Scion” was tragically killed.

Tow trucks arrived and cleared the vehicle debris from the roadway after investigators had finished up their initial assessment of the car wreck.

Currently, the 41-year-old driver of the Scion sustains severe injuries.  Along with his passenger, a 27-year-old woman, and the 33-year-old driver of the Camry, the victims were transported to a local area hospital for treatment.
