Victim dead after car crashes with driver Megan Page at Oroville intersection

According to a recent article from Chicoer.com, there was a fatal car crash that occurred on Tuesday afternoon in which one driver was killed on Highway 162 in east Oroville.

As mentioned in the news article, the accident occurred at about 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday when Whitley was driving westbound on State Route 162, approaching the intersection with Kelly Ridge Road in his 1973 Volkswagen Bettle.

Sources said that a 1996 Jeep Cherokee was stopped at a red light at the intersection in the left turn lane, driven by Oroville resident Megan page, 29.  According to California Highway Patrol, Page attempted to make a left turn and drove into the path of Whitley’s Volkswagen.

As a result, the two vehicles collided head-on, and due to the tremendous impact of the collision, Whitley died at the scene.

Additionally, Page was transported to a local hospital after suffering minor injuries, according to the report.  Although Page told investigators that she began making a left turn under a protected green light, said the article, witnesses told the authorities that Page may have begun turning against a red light, rather.

Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.

Further details will be reported at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
