Three-car collision takes the life of one 29-year-old woman on Wednesday

According to a recent article from BakersfieldNow, there was a major semi-truck collision on Highway 99 on Wednesday that left one person dead as a result.

The accident occurred on Thursday morning, September 14, 2017 on Ming Avenue when three cars collided.

The California Highway Patrol stated that a 29-year-old woman named Faviola Vargas Fernandez was driving a white Hyundai, entering a highway at a high rate of speed against stopped traffic.  She attempted to dodge the stopped vehicles by veering to the left, but she hit two vehicles, said authorities.

As a result, she was killed upon impact, due to not having a seat belt on during the collision.  Furthermore, there were only minor injuries suffered by other parties, if any, according to the police.

Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.

Further details will be reported at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
