Driver hit 5-year-old girl and her grandmother in crosswalk

According to BakersfieldNow, 5-year-old Emily Guillen-Casillas died in a crosswalk while walking with her grandmother in a pedestrian-car crash on Harris and Ashe Roads in Bakersfield.

The traffic accident occurred at about 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of Harris and Ashe when the unnamed driver lost control of her vehicle for unknown reasons.

The vehicle crashed into the pedestrian young girl and her grandmother who were walking along a sidewalk.  Police said that the child was identified as Emily Guillen-Casillas.  Emily died at the scene of the accident, and the grandmother was hospitalized in critical condition, said the report.

Furthermore, the driver was transported to a local hospital where they were treated for a medical condition.  Their name was withheld from the report.

Currently, the traffic collision is being investigated by the authorities, and further information will be relayed at a later time.
