Two woman killed and another injured following a head-on collision on Highway 101 in Humboldt County

According to a news report from lostcoastoutpost, on Friday, April 13th 2018, at about 11:44 a.m., two people were killed and at least one person injured ensuing a traffic collision on the southbound of Highway 101 near Salmon Creek Road in the city of Miranda.

In addition, the report stated that a 2007 Honda Civic and a van were the vehicles involved in the traffic collision. Moreover, the Honda was traveling southbound on Highway 101 when the driver lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons and collided head-on with a van that was traveling northbound, according to authorities.

Additionally, the driver of the van, 69-year-old Marsha Adams of Sedona, Arizona, suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment, as stated by officials.

Furthermore, 20-year-old Emely Selina Carreno-Arenas and her passenger, Michelle Segundo, 19, both of Eureka, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office.

Highway 101 was shut down for several hours as authorities worked to clear the accident and a tow truck was required for the vehicles involved in the accident, as stated by authorities.

Currently, this incident is under review in an ongoing investigation by the authorities, and further details will be reviewed and released to the public as it is determined.
