Shoreline highway near Marshall was closed for 5 hours due to possible drunk driving

According to an article from the Press Democrat, the passenger identified as eighteen-year-old Ricardo De Santiago was killed in a DUI-related car accident on Monday January 29 in Marshall, Marin County on Shoreline Highway after his driver, Lucas McFadden drifted into the opposite lane and crashed into a semi-truck.

At just after 4:30 p.m. on Monday, 23-year-old Lucas McFadden who is friends with Ricardo De Santiago was driving a Honda Prelude South on Shoreline highway when he collided into an oncoming dump truck, as a result of trying to correct for drifting into the opposite lane reported the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials say passenger Ricardo De Santiago died on scene and McFadden was hospitalized after suffering major injuries. The driver of the Peterbilt dump truck, 54-year-old Kevin Furlong was not injured, according to sources.

Police have determined that McFadden was intoxicated while he was driving.  Currently, this crash remains under the investigation by the authorities and further details will be reported later.
