Driver of semi-truck killed, passenger injured in fatal big-rig traffic accident

A driver was killed and a passenger was critically injured after a fatal semi-truck accident took place between three big rigs and an RV on I-5 near Highway 33 in Fresno County, according to a local news article.

The accident occurred when CHP responded to reports of a crash between three semi-trucks and an RV in the northbound traffic lanes of Interstate 5 Freeway near Highway 33.

Reportedly, a man driving one of the big rig trucks failed to change speeds in order to accommodate for traffic in advance of a construction zone.  This led to the large truck slamming into the back of an RV as well as two other big rig trucks.

As a result, the driver of the first semi-truck died at the scene, according to authorities.

Additionally, there was a passenger inside the semi-truck that sustained severe injuries and was transported by paramedics to Community Regional Medical Center, according to officials.

Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.

Further details will be reported at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
