Cyclist struck by vehicle in fatal accident on Old Highway 80 near Flinn Crest Street in El Cajon

According to a news report from abc10news, on Tuesday, April 17th 2018, at about 3:15 p.m., a cyclist was killed and at least one person was injured ensuing a car accident on the eastbound of Olde Highway 80 near Flinn Crest Street in the city of El Cajon.

In addition, the report stated that a 67-year-old woman, of Spring Valley was driving a white Toyota Sienna when she lost control of her vehicle and drifted off to the right shoulder, sideswiping a man riding his mountain bike. The minivan also hit a parked white Ford F-150, metal bus stop sign and a mailbox, according to authorities.

Several lanes of traffic were blocked as authorities worked to clear the accident and a tow truck was required for the vehicles involved in the accident, as stated by officials.

Moreover, it is unclear how many were injured, but at least one person was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego by paramedics. Additionally, authorities have not yet released any information on the injured party at this time.

Furthermore, cyclist was identified as 58-year-old male, of Alpine was pronounce dead at 7:00 p.m. at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego.

Currently, this incident is under review in an ongoing investigation by the authorities, and further details will be reviewed and released to the public as it is determined.
