21-year-old killed early Friday after deadly collision with street sweeper

According to a recent Orange County Register article, there was a fatal accident on Friday early morning in which a street sweeper crashed head-on with a vehicle, leaving one Santa Ana resident dead.

As mentioned in the article, the accident occurred at about 2:50 a.m. on Friday, September 1st.

Brandon Gonzalez, 21, was driving his Toyota Scion down Cerritos Avenue just east of Knott Avenue, reported the article.

The young man crashed head-on with the street sweeper, although the article gave no indication of how the collision occurred.

As a result, Gonzalez died at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.  Furthermore, the street-sweeper operator sustained non-life threatening injuries, said Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Nate Wilson.

Currently, the collision remains under investigation and further details will be reported at a later time.
