San Bernardino woman, 26, killed in deadly collision with suspected drunk driver
According to the San Bernardino Sun, there was a deadly accident that occurred early Saturday morning in which a drunken driving suspect crashed into another driver, resulting in the woman’s death.
Per the article, Ariell Gipson, 26, of San Bernardino, was identified as the victim who was sitting in her vehicle behind a sheriff’s transportation van at H and Fifth streets shortly before a man rear ended her, causing a deadly collision.
The San Bernardino Police arrived at the scene shortly after and determined that the 26-year-old was killed and the suspected drunk driver sustained only minor injuries.
The driver at fault was identified as Irineo Del Castillo, 34, of Riverside. He allegedly was speeding off of the freeway before he rear-ended Gipson, said authorities. At the time, it did not appear that anyone in the transport van suffered any serious injuries.
Witnesses have stated that the driver at fault, Del Castillo, seemed to have been under the influence because of the way he was driving, the article stated.
As a result, the San Bernardino police arrested Del Castillo on suspicion of driving under the influence and thus was taken to the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, according to sheriff’s booking records.
Currently, the crash remains under investigation and further details will be reported at a later time.
