Child critically injured in pedestrian-car accident

An unidentified 9-year-old girl suffered critical injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Tuesday afternoon in a collision at the intersection of Carolyn Weston Boulevard and Ishi Goto Street in Stockton, according to a local news article from KCRA.

Authorities responded to the incident at about 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of Carolyn Weston Blvd and Ishi Goto St where they discovered a girl down in the roadway.

First respondents treated the girl and deemed her critically injured before paramedics arrived and transported the injured victim to UC Davis Medical Center via airlift, said police.

Additionally, police reported that the girl was crossing the street when she was hit, although there was no clear indication of whether she was walking in a crosswalk or not.  Furthermore, it was unclear from the article if the driver at fault remained at the scene of the incident or if they fled.

At this time, the victim’s identity is being withheld from the news release, pending the notification of next-of-kin.

Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.

Further details will be reported at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
