Efrain Black turns himself in after fleeing deadly crash at 4th and V Avenues

On Monday evening, February 13, 2017, an eighty-year-old pedestrian succumbed to his wounds after being hit by a hit-and-run driver, according to a recent article from NBC San Diego.

The article detailed a crash that occurred at 4th and V Avenues in National City, when the victim was crossing the street in front of his home.  The driver, identified by the police as 20-year-old San Diego resident Efrain Black, reportedly fled the scene at first according to police.

The victim’s identity was not released at the time, said the article.  The victim was apparently walking his dogs before he was struck.

Sgt. Dennis Leach stated in the article that the driver was thrown into a parked vehicle about roughly 20 feet, indicating a very deadly strike impact that could seriously injure anybody in a car accident.

Black will face charges of felony hit and run causing death and will be transported to County Jail, said authorities.

At this time, the authorities will continue to press for evidence and more details in the investigation, and further information will be released when it is available.

Pedestrian accidents often lead to very serious injuries and even death.  When a pedestrian hit by a car dies, the survivors can file a wrongful death suit and claim monetary damages to help cover the expensive funeral costs and any other financial duties the pedestrian had.
