34-year-old driver is arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing injury on Saturday

According to an article from the Press Democrat, there was a car accident that took place between a car and a bicycle on Friday night on Caulfield Lane, leaving one bicyclist injured as a result.

The article mentioned that the accident took place just after 8:00 p.m. on Friday on westbound Caulfield Lane just west of South McDowell Boulevard.

Due to the collision, a 68-year-old man was thrown nearly 40 feet from his bicycle.  Reportedly, the bicyclist suffered cuts to his legs, arms, and face, said police.  His identity was not named in the article, pending the notification of next-of-kin.

Additionally, witnesses identified the driver as Kelman Garcia de Leon.  Authorities mentioned that he fled the scene in a silver sports car afterwards and failed to assist the injured man.

A day later, an anonymous tip led the police to a vehicle matching the description of the suspect near the 1600 block of San Marino Drive in Petaluma.

Garcia de Leon was identified as the driver of the vehicle, although he “denied any involvement in the hit and run collision,” said police.

Currently, the condition of the injured bicyclist is unknown.

Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.

Further details will be reported at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
