California boy suffers head injuries after the vehicle he was in was hit by drunk driver

According to a recent press release, a six-year-old boy named Lennox was injured after a major car accident that occurred on Saturday evening in San Ysidro.

Lennox was coming home from Disneyland with his mom and dad just before the accident occurred.  They were just enjoying a milkshake at fast food restaurant In-N-Out before going home when a vehicle collided with their car, reported the article.

Lennox sat in the rear passenger seat when a truck slammed into their car, pushing them through a guardrail.  Subsequently, Border Patrol agents and authorities arrived at the scene of the crash, at Camino De La Plaza and Dairy Mart Road, reported the article.  Several victims were identified and local authorities were called.

The suspect was no where in sight and had fled the scene.  Investigators who arrived were able to determine that the hit-and-run suspect was driving a Chevrolet pickup.  With the help of Border Patrol, the authorities were able to track down a damaged vehicle that matched the description half an hour later, at the corner of Vista Lane and Corte Amalia.

The driver at fault was arrested by San Diego Police, under suspicion of driving under the influence and fleeing the scene of an accident with injured parties, stated the article.

Reportedly, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement official gave out a statement regarding the case, saying that the driver was identified as Constantino Banda-Acosta, a Mexican national who has been deported fifteen times over the course of fifteen years.

The child who was injured suffered serious head injuries and had to undergo surgery, said his uncle.  The boy’s parents also suffered minor injuries, as stated in the article.

Currrently, there is a GoFundMe page that was set up by the victim’s uncle in order to help raise contributions to pay for medical bills for the family.

At this time, we of the May Firm would like to extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to the family of Lennox, who have to deal with the aftermath of a reckless driver’s actions.  We hope the authorities leading the investigation are able to conclude the investigation to determine who is at fault for this traffic collision.
