Victim fatally injured after a street-racing related car accident in Oakland

On Monday early morning, there was a street-racing related vehicle collision that took place on International Boulevard near 82nd Avenue that resulted in the death of one 49-year-old pedestrian, reported the SF Gate.

As mentioned in the news report, the incident happened at around 12:45 a.m. on the 8200 block of International Boulevard near 82nd Avenue.

The Oakland Police Department reported a black Dodge Charger and a maroon BMW 320 were traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed down International Boulevard when the driver of the Charger lost control and struck a pedestrian, according to the article.

When authorities arrived at the scene, emergency medical teams transported the victim to a local hospital where he later passed away, according to the news article.  The drivers involved in the fatal street-racing death fled the scene and left their vehicles behind, reported the source.

The victim’s name was not released publicly, and no arrests were made yet involving any suspects.

It was unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the deadly car collision.

Currently, this wrongful death is being investigated by the Oakland Police Department and further information regarding the identities of the drivers involved in the accident will be reported at a later time.
