Suspected DUI driver arrested after fatally injuring 16-year-old victim

According to a local news report, an unidentified 16-year-old girl was killed by a DUI driver at the intersection of 47th street and Avenue S in Palmdale on Sunday night in a deadly drunk driving car crash.

As mentioned in the news article, the accident occurred in Palmdale shortly before 11:15 p.m.

A 16-year-old girl was struck by a suspected DUI driver while she was crossing the street, the news release said.  Officials said that emergency responders treated her at the scene of the pedestrian collision before paramedics transported the victim to Antelope Valley Hospital.

According to sources, the victim shortly died after.  The girl’s identity was not released publicly, pending the notification of family members.  Furthermore, officials reported that the girl did not cross in a designated crosswalk.

The 25-year-old driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.  Their name was not released publicly.

Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.
