Fatal head-on accident results in 1 victim dead and 1 hospitalized

According to Walnut Creek Patch, around 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday morning, a head on-collision killed one victim and hospitalized another victim on Byron Highway at North Bruns Way.

Around 9:35 am, a witness reported a head on collision on the Byron Highway at North Bruns Way.

According to CHP, witnesses saw a westbound blue Honda suddenly change direction and hit a gold Mazda minivan traveling eastbound on the highway. Both cars were reported to have been traveling at 50 mph when the accident occurred.

The driver of the Honda died at the scene while the driver of the Mazda suffered moderate injuries and was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.  Their names were not mentioned in the article, pending the notification of next-of-kin.

As mentioned in the article, authorities stated that they are unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.
