On Monday, A 25-year-old Santa Maria man was killed and five other people were seriously injured in a fatal collision near Los Alamos. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the accident occurred in the southbound lane of Highway 101 and Cat Canyon Road when a Chevrolet Malibu attempted to turn left onto Cat Canyon Road, and was struck broadside by a southbound Jeep Cherokee.

The driver of the Malibu, Gloria De Jesus Vega, of Santa Maria, suffered major injuries and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The passenger, who at this time is unnamed, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the Jeep, Adrian Perez, 7, of Goleta was airlifted to Cottage Hospital with major injuries. The three other occupants of the Cherokee, all from Goleta, were also injured and taken via ambulance to Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria.
