A box truck rear-ended a semi near AZ-CA border at milepost 23
According to an article posted by 3TV News, there was a fatal truck accident that occurred early Friday morning on Interstate 40 where a driver was killed and another injured.
The big rig truck accident occurred just before 2:30 a.m. in the morning on Friday. The tractor-trailer was headed eastbound just 23 miles east of the Arizonia-California border, by Yucca in Mohave County.
A Department of Public Safety Trooper reported that the driver of the semi called in to report his vehicle being rear-ended. Per the article, a box truck had hit the semi and was wedged underneath the trailer.
As a result, per the article, the driver inside the box truck was found dead at the scene when authorities arrived. The other driver, inside the semi, suffered minor injuries comparably and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The vehicles had to be removed from the roadway and the wreck blocked the I-40 for some time before traffic resumed in the eastbound lanes.
The crash remains under investigation until further notice and details will be released as they are determined once the authorities have concluded their investigation into this major truck accident.
