4 teens transported to hospital after DUI-related accident in San Luis Obispo
According to an article from KSBY, there was a car accident on Tuesday night in San Luis Obispo in which four teenagers including driver Cody Wilson were injured on State Route 101 near Higuera Street.
As mentioned in the article, California Highway Patrol officers responded to the car wreck in the southbound lanes at about 10:45 p.m. on Hwy 101.
CHP authorities stated that the 18-year-old driver was identified as Cody Wilson. Driving a Ford Explorer, he lost control of the vehicle after speeding.
Subsequently, the SUV drove into the center median, crossed over the lanes and went up a steep embankment before rolling over, officers reported.
Wilson was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time and was ejected from the vehicle, the article mentions. An 18-year-old passenger was also not wearing a seatbelt, and as a result, both young Coalinga residents suffered severe injuries, said CHP.
Additionally, the 14-year-old and 15-year-old girls from Avenal were wearing seatbelts during the crash, and only sustained minor injuries.
All four were then taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Currently, the article mentions, no arrests have been made, although CHP says that alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in the car accident.
Further information will be released at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
