Rancho Cucamonga Man killed in car crash on I-15 after Honda sedan broke down
According to a recent article from the Daily Press, a Rancho Cucamonga resident named Don Van Nguyen was killed after a collision that occurred on the Interstate 15 just south of Oak Hill Road. The crash occurred late Friday night.
Per the article, California Highway Patrol officers were dispatched to the site of the car accident at about 10:22 p.m. on Friday evening. The collision was between a 2002 Honda Accord driven by the victim, Nguyen, and a Subaru, driven by a 28-year-old Victorville man. Reportedly, Nguyen’s vehicle became disabled and broke down in the No.2 lane, which prompted him to turn on his hazard lights. Despite the hazard lights, the driver of the Subaru rear-ended the Honda with Nguyen inside, authorities said. The impact ruptured the gas tank and the vehicle immediately started catching fire.
Before the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, the Subaru driver pulled Nguyen out of his vehicle, according to the report. Emergency personnel arrived and transported the injured Nguyen to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour afterwards. Currently, an investigation is underway and authorities are working to determine the cause of the accident and the reason for Nguyen’s vehicle disabling itself.
We at The May Firm are truly saddened by this car accident and we extend our heartfelt prayers to the family affected.
Stated in a GoFundMe page for the family, Nguyen is remembered by his wife and two children.
