Vehicle rollover resulted in injuries after Border Patrol pursuit on the 8 Freeway near Japatul Valley Rd in Alpine
According to an article from the San Diego Union-Tribune, on Tuesday, March 6th 2018, at about 11:00 a.m. four people were injured as a result of a vehicle rollover that took place on Interstate 8 near Japatul Valley Road in the city of Alpine ensuing a Border Patrol pursuit.
Furthermore, authorities stated that the chase began around 10:45 a.m. in Pine Valley after Border Patrol agents tried pulling over a 1999 blue Ford Expedition, for suspicion of smuggling people across the border. The Ford reached speeds of up to 100 mph before rolling over and landing on its roof about 40 feet from the interstate, as mentioned by officials.
In addition, the driver of the vehicle was not injured and tried to flee but was apprehended by Border Patrol agents, as cited in the article. Four people were injured and air lifted to a near by hospital, however authorities do not have any word on the condition of the injured victims.
Authorities did not have immediately have the immigration status or age of the injured party, and further details will be available at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
