Jeremy Smith arrested after causing major motorcycle crash in Simi Valley, injuring passenger
A motorcycle passenger suffered major injuries after his driver, Jeremy Smith, crashed in a motorcycle crash in Simi Valley near Alamo and Stearns streets early Monday, reported a local news article.
As mentioned in the news release, Simi Valley Police Department patrol officers spotted a motorcycle traveling at about 70 mph in the area near Alamo and Stearns streets just before 4:00 a.m. on early Monday.
Carrying a driver and a passenger, the motorcycle reached speeds near 100 mph, authorities said. The officer followed the vehicle to stop the motorcyclist, but the driver failed to stop at Yosemite Avenue and crashed into a concrete fence, said officials. The driver and the passenger were ejected from the motorbike as a result.
As a result, the 27-year-old passenger suffered major injuries, as well as the driver, Jeremy Smith, 31.
Authorities stated Smith was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence, but was released later on bond.
Currently, this incident is under review in an ongoing investigation by the authorities, and further details will be reviewed and released to the public as it is determined.
