Driver is struck and killed by hit-and-run drivers after exiting his vehicle on road
According to a local news article, a Visalia man in his mid-50’s was killed after a hit and run car accident took place on Tuesday night at the intersection of Inyo Avenue and Road 56 in Tulare.
The accident occurred in the westbound lanes of Inyo Avenue when a Visalia victim was driving his Chevy pickup truck. For reasons unknown, the man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a nearby fence at around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.
After the initial crash, the driver got out of his vehicle and started walking away from the crash when he was suddenly struck by not one, but multiple vehicles, said officials. Officers responded to the incident after receiving reports of a man down in the road. When authorities arrived at the scene, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, with no drivers at the scene, indicating a clear hit-and-run.
Moreover, authorities suspect alcohol to have been a factor in the crash, although there are few details at this time. Furthermore, there was no description of the hit-and-run vehicles that fled the scene, but authorities need to collect more evidence before anything is concluded, said officials.
Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.
Further details will be reported at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
