Woman struck and killed after a pedestrian-car accident in Bakersfield
A pedestrian was killed in a collision on Tuesday night, March 6, when she was struck by a car on Union Avenue south of East California Avenue in Bakersfield, according to a local news article from BakersfieldNow.
According to the article, the accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. when authorities responded to an incident on Union Avenue. Officers reportedly found a woman struck by a vehicle laying down on the roadway.
Emergency respondents pronounced the victim dead at the scene, said the article. Police Sgt. Jeff Saso reported the woman was not inside of the crosswalk at the time of the collision, and it was mentioned that the driver responsible for the collision remained at the scene and was cooperative with officers during their questioning.
The name of the victim was withheld from the report pending the notification of next-of-kin.
Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.
