Steven R. Murray injured when car hits light pole in Miranda
Two men identified as Dennis Wendt and Roger Harwood were killed and Steven R. Murray was injured after a deadly traffic collision on Highway 101 near French Road, reported the California Highway Patrol.
The accident reportedly took place at about 3:20 a.m. early Friday. Steven Murray was identified as the driver of a 2002 GMC Yukon headed northbound on SR-101 before it suddenly went off the east road edge, colliding into a light pole before a crashing into a redwood tree.
According to the source, the SUV then flipped over down a dirt embankment before the vehicle came to rest near Maple Hills Road.
Authorities responded to the collision and identified two passengers in the GMC as 69-year-old Dennis M. Wendt and 67-year-old Roger Harwood. They were pronounced dead at the scene after being removed from the smashed in car wreck. The driver, Murray, was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka after sustaining moderate injuries.
Currently, the investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the cause of the collision and determine liability. Further details will be reported at a later time.
