Four-vehicle collision hospitalizes at least two people
The collision was first reported at 12:21 a.m. and was a single-vehicle collision, California Highway Patrol officials stated. Upon arrival, officers found that there were more vehicles that got involved in the car crash.
The initial accident occurred when a car crashed through the right shoulder wall of the freeway, said authorities. The reason the car crashed was not listed.
Soon after, a second vehicle pulled over to help. A third vehicle, identified as a Honda Accord, crashed into the car as well as the pedestrians that stopped to help.
A fourth vehicle then crashed into the same car, reported officers. A fifth car was also struck with debris in the aftermath of the collisions.
Reportedly, two victims, the driver from the initial crash as well as a pedestrian, were in critical condition. The condition of two other victims in the crash were not reported and is unclear at this time.

Reportedly, Sig-alert was issued from 12:32 a.m. to 1:37 a.m. because four lanes were blocked on the northbound Interstate Highway 280.
